Four people were arrested during a police exercise in the Western Division yesterday morning for driving under the influence.

The exercise was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Huggins together with members of the Western Division Task Force throughout several communities in Diego Martin and St James.

The exercise saw a team of officers along Ariapita Avenue, Mucurapo Road, and Long Circular Road, targeting drivers who would have left events only moments before.

Several stop and search forms were filled out and several persons were subjected to a breathalyser test, but only four people failed.

These individuals were promptly arrested and taken into custody.

The exercise was also conducted on Bagatelle Road, Diego Martin, where they executed a search warrant in the presence of three individuals.

At the home, a quantity of assorted ammunition was found and seized.

The exercise was part of the Division’s continuing “zero tolerance” approach to crime in its jurisdiction as previously mandated by acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams.
