66 arrested in South

A TOTAL of 66 persons were arrested over the weekend for a series of crimes including robberies, possession and trafficking in drugs.

The anti-crime exercise started on Friday and ended on Saturday in different parts of south Trinidad including Moruga, Princes Town, Plesantville and Marabella. Fourteen persons were arrested for drunk driving, 35 on outstanding warrants, 12 people were arrested for possession and trafficking of marijuana. Thirty five persons were arrested on outstanding warrants. Three hundred and thirty five stop-and-searches were conducted. The exercise was supervised by by Senior Sup’t Cecil Santana, Sup’t Zamsheed Mohammed, ASP Barnette, ASPs Jackman and Seedan Phillip of the Southern Division Task Force. The arrested persons are expected to appear before various magistrates in various courts in south Trinidad.
