Five in court today

FIVE people are to be taken before a Sangre Grande magistrate today charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of illegal drugs and throwing missiles.

The arrests were made on the weekend by Sangre Grande Police following a road traffic exercise in the Cumuto district on the weekend.

Nineteen fixed penalty traffic tickets were also issued to motorists. Among the five, two were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol while two others were charged with possession of marijuana.

A 27-year-old villager of Cumuto was caught by police belting bottles at a bar in Cumuto and was arrested.

The exercise began on Friday night and ended on Saturday morning and was carried along the Cumuto Main Road.

The exercise was supervised by Supt Neville “Toco Burroughs’ Sankar and included Sgt Ramdath Cpl Jawahir PCs Williams, and Beharry and other officers of Cumuto Police Station.
