THE EDITOR: An effective way to reduce the incidence of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs would be to forfeit the vehicle involved in the offence to the State and impose a fine.

If our legislators were serious they could deal with this problem swiftly notwithstanding our panoply of lawyers and judges who have no context of law other than in a textbook.
